  • How Village in Bloom began to grow

The Twyford in Bloom working group brings together groups of volunteers, local organisations, clubs and societies, schools and businesses who work throughout the year to make Twyford a better place. Following 4 years of achieving the award silver gilt  last year we achieved the Thames & Chilterns GOLD award which is a huge recognition of all the village projects.

This year our theme is ‘Bees’. We will showcase projects such as our wildflower and bee friendly areas, the BIG Twyford Tree project, fruit tree planting and environmental work at the burial ground and Stanlake Meadow copse. We will emphasise the use of pollinators in all areas. We will tell the judges about the History Society’s osier project and Twyford Rethinks its Plastic (TRIP) plan to get Twyford listed as a plastic free community by Surfers against sewage. The continued excellent work of the 50 litter picker members of Adopt a Street will be applauded.

The areas identified last year by the judges will be considered and addressed by our many enthusiastic volunteers!
